Marc has been a member of Scouts Canada since he joined Cubs at the age of 8. Since then he has come up through the various levels including Scouts, Venturers, then finally Rovers. He was a founding member of the Seymour Vespula Rover Crew, located in the Seymour District, Vancouver Coast Region, and served as Assistant Advisor when he became too old for the crew. Jules was a Brownie, Guide, Pathfinder and Ranger before becoming a Guide leader as well as a member of Scouts Canada. She joined the Flying Jaguar Rover Crew in Beaconsfield, Quebec, and was an active member until she moved to Vancouver in 1996. We met at the 13th Australian National Moot in Sydney in 1995, as part of the Canadian Contingent. However, we soon discovered that we were both former contributors to the Canadian Rovering Magazine. Stephanie and Jules used to do the Quebec report, and Paul and Marc used to do the B.C. report, and a fair bit of bantering would go on between the two groups, to the point where they once called Steph and Jules one night to "interview" them for their article. After a few trips back and forth between Vancouver and Montreal, Jules decided to move to Vancouver to be with Marc (aaawwww!). Our most memorable experiences have come as members of the Rover program. This level of Scouting is open to men and women from the ages of 18 to 26 years. We are now members of the 30th BP Guild in Vancouver, which was established in December 1997. In 1998, Marc was as the Canadian Contingent Leader for the 10th Asia/Pacific 14th Australian National Moot. This was an exciting event hosted by the Victoria Rovers. The Moot was located at Mafeking Rover Park, near Yea, Victoria, Australia, from 29 December 1998 to 7 January 1999. Since then, we've enjoyed ourselves so much in Australia, that we haven't left! Although we are not active members of Scouting in Sydney, we do a fair bit of socialising with the former Rovers we have met over the years. Scouting links: |
